Leaving the states after 5 + years

This is where the blog begins I suppose. Hari and I didnt think too much of moving from country to country when we said 'Yippee!' and signed up to study at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. We had done the move before when we were 21. We had moved from India to the US and with all of two rather large, heavy suitcases.

Moreover, we were getting this unique opportunity to study together once again! Hari and I first met at indergraduate engineering college in India. So going back to school together once again fascinated us. This time we would shoot for an MBA degree.

The two things that dawned on us as we got into the logistics of moving were that
a> We had managed to accumulate a lot of crap in 5 years. Mind you, very pretty and artistic crap none the less we said to ourselves with pride. That which was not going to fit into two or four or even six suitcases. We couldnt really put stuff in storage since maybe we were leaving the States for good for now atleast.

b> All our friends - those we studied with in India, those that we had got to know in thelast five years and those we were excited about just getting to know were all going to be far away from us once we moved:-(

Anyway, when an opportunity of a lifetime comes along, one has got to look forward and not backward I suppose. Your friends will remain friends with a little more effort long-distance.....

The last two weeks were trying. We had to be super orgnaised and yet not have a home to come back to. Soon we were jobless, homeless and car-less bums:-)
But as one of my dear friends gently reminded me - 'wandering nomads' was a better description.

The last few days with the gang of friends and our angel-like cousins and family were precious to both Hari and I. We all hung out at La Fondue in Los Gatos for chocolate fondue. For a choco-holic like me nothing could have been better and that would be true of the company as well.
